Gene Pavelich
Gene Pavelich has lived in rural Saskatchewan most of his 56 years. His photography reflects an appreciation of the culture and beauty of his native province - its unique landscape, awesome skies and its intriguing, hard-working people.
Recent transition from film to digital has renewed his passion for creative photography, which began in high school when his English teacher introduced him to photography. This then lead to the purchase of his first SLR a Pentax Spotmatic. Gene moved on to college. After 2 years there, his yearning for all things photographic landed him a job with a local, commercial photographer where he was introduced to darkroom and studio work.
Next stop - photographic retail and access to all the latest and greatest equipment available. This opportunity allowed Gene to meet and talk to people within every aspect of the photographic world. Although busy years interrupted his earlier run at shooting portrait and landscapes with film, Gene's enthusiasm for the never ending evolution of photography never waned.
Diving back in, and at the same time playing catch up with the digital age, has been an accelerating experience and Gene soon realized that he enjoyed the art of photo editing just as much as the shooting itself. With editing tools at hand Gene has undertaken to achieve excellence in photo restoration and repair, while endeavoring to rebuild his portfolio in the style and standard that have been his trademark.
When travel opportunities arrive Gene's first priority is the chance to photograph, and since his wife's family hails from the Maritimes a portion of his portfolio includes seascapes and rustic harbors.
The website photo gallery is constantly evolving and new photos will be added as they become available.
